Chairman’s Column
Hello everyone
This month I have attended another centenary celebration – this time of a fellow member of Ludford WI.
Joan Brocklebank is one of our founder members, when the WI reformed in the 1940s, and is a great supporter.
To mark the occasion, we held our monthly meeting at the care home Joan now lives in, where another talented member, Di Smith, a NAFAS demonstrator, created some beautiful arrangements, which were left at the home for everyone to enjoy.
I was also very pleased to be able to visit Bracebridge Heath WI recently.
It really was a delight – with a warm welcome, friendly chat and, of course, some delicious cake.
They are another of our Wis working hard to connect with and support their local community. Their most recent project is to provide books for the local primary school, which has just got a new library. A great thing to do and maybe something other WIs could look into in their own village or town.
As I write this, we are approaching a busy time of year – with the national annual meeting in Cardiff and Carrington Rally fast approaching. There is also the Lincolnshire Show looming.
There is also a lot happening for the rest of the year, thanks to our hardworking events team. Don’t forget ….. You can reserve a place on any event as soon as information becomes available, even if the price or final details are yet to be decided.
It is such a shame if people miss out on something they would love to do because they weren’t quick enough. The place won’t be officially booked until payment is received though, remember, and this must be done by the closing date specified.
A reminder too that you can book as an individual and do not have to rely on your WI secretary to make the booking for you.
As always, if there are any queries, just ask.
Take care as always
Dianne
