Chairman’s Column
Hello everyone,
I hope you have been enjoying this lovely weather we have been having – and it looks like we will be having more of it.
In May, we had another successful time at the Carrington Steam Show. It was an enjoyable two days too. Thank you to everyone who supplied cakes and helped at the event. As a federation, we are so lucky to have people who work to make these events the success they are.
As this newsletter is sent out, it is of course the Lincolnshire Show and a lot of work has gone into getting things ready for that.
An additional event for the federation this year is The Spilsby Show, on July 9, where we have been invited to do refreshments. Thank you in advance to those who will be baking once more.
Remember, bakers can claim for the cakes they produce and we are always happy to hear from people who would like to go on the batch baking list. So whether your speciality is scones, chocolate cake, Victoria sponge or some other tasty treat, the federation’s catering officer, Janet Harrison, would be delighted to hear from you.
That leads me nicely on to an apology for an omission following the federation annual meeting – we didn’t report back on the new board of trustees and their roles – oops.
Anyhow, here is the list:
Chairman – Dianne Tuckett (Ludford, Binbrook & District and The Rolling Scones WI)
Vice Chairman and Catering Officer – Janet Harrison (Coningsby & Tattershall WI)
Treasurer – Paula Burrett (The Rolling Scones WI)
Assistant Treasurer – Gill Pursey (Tetney WI)
WI News Editor – Angela Borman (Saxilby WI)
Gifts to Go officer – Barbara Young (Saxilby WI)
Public Affairs and Resolution Officer – Maria Scott (Sturton by Stow WI)
Membership Liaison and Safeguarding – Jackie Summers (Lea WI)
Ex-officio, as Events and Activities Team Chairman – Jean Burgess (Tetney WI)
The formal trustee meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month and to make that possible, the federation office will be closed on those days – apologies for any inconvenience that may cause.
A reminder too that the federation office is only open Monday to Wednesday – although we currently have a glitch on the answerphone, which keeps reverting to an old message which says Monday to Thursday – technology eh!!
Take care as always
Dianne
