Chairman’s column
Hello everyone
I cannot believe that this is the August edition of WI News — where are the week’s going?
There has been a lot going since the last edition, not least the Lincolnshire Show – and you can see the winning entries on the three-page picture special in this edition. Thanks go to everyone who took part and I also echo catering officer Janet Harrison’s thanks (on page 10) to the cake bakers and volunteers.
In July, I was pleased to be able to go along and support Tealby WI at their coffee morning in aid of Stardust, a performing arts group for adults with
additional needs. Member Holly attends the group and, along with her friends Jack and Rebecca, entertained those attending with songs.
Holly is pictured with the Federation’s Gifts to Go stall, which the WI had at the coffee morning and 10 per cent of the proceeds from the stall will go to the fundraising total.
Any WI can book the Gifts to Go for their event or meeting. Just contact the office to arrange collection, run the stall, return the unsold items and 10 per cent of sales will be credited to your WI funds.
The Christmas stock will be arriving soon…..more of that next month.
With the school holiday now in full swing, many of you will be busy keeping children and grandchildren entertained – let’s hope the weather improves so you can get out and about.
From September, there are a number of federation events to get out and about to. The lunches are back and there is not one but two Christmas coach trips to book on to.
We are also holding a Lincolnshire Day celebration – albeit a day early – with our friends from Lincolnshire South and Lincolnshire Humber. There will be a talk on the Lincolnshire Rising, Lincolnshire songs and Lincolnshire fayre.
As always, please get your bookings in as soon as you can – both to secure your place and also to show there is sufficient interest to enable the event to go ahead.
I look forward to catching up with many of you at the events.
Until then, take care as always.
Dianne
