Chairman’s column
Hello everyone
What a fantastic coffee morning at WI House to launch our Christmas range for Gifts to Go and to support EDAN Lincs.
We were delighted to be joined by Anna from the charity and by so many of our lovely members. There was a great atmosphere, lots of chat, a fair deal of shopping and plenty of information from Anna on ways we can support EDAN Lincs and the work they do.
This month, there is an opportunity to get involved with ‘16 days of action’ (November
25 to December 10) to support EDAN Lincs.
As November 25 is White Ribbon Day (an aim to end men’s violence against women
and girls) an easy way to get involved is to make simple white ribbons and sell them for, say, £1 to members and friends, then donate the proceeds to the EDAN fund.
Any money raised can be paid to LNFWI (ensure it is marked EDAN) and, as a Federation, we hope to hand over a significant sum to the charity.
Feedback from the coffee morning itself was very positive, with many people saying they
enjoyed the opportunity to socialise with members from across the Federation. We will
therefore be holding some more social coffee and chat style events in 2024, so look out
for more information in future issues of WI News.
One last thing to mention is, finally, we have the 2024 calendars available.
This year’s theme is Woodland, Wildlife and Water and each month features a beautiful image taken by a member of either Lincolnshire North or Lincolnshire Humber Federation.
The reverse of each month gives some information on ‘Inspiring Women of Lincolnshire’.
The calendars cost £4.50 each and are available from WI House.
They will also be for sale on Gifts to Go stalls, including the one at the Wragby lunch on November 29.
Next month’s WI News will be a combined December and January edition – where has the year gone?
Take care as always
Dianne
