Chairman’s Chat

Hello everyone
I am handing the Chairman’s Chat slot over to Jean Burgess this month, the chairman of EAT (Events and Activities Team), who has some important information. Take care as always.

Hello everyone from me too
The message is: We’re making some changes!
Not all WI secretaries forward the digital copy of WI News to their members as soon as it lands in their in-box at the end of each month – and not all WIs meet in the first week of the month, which means sometimes an event can be fully booked before all WI members have had a chance to read about it.
So, we have listened to your feedback and we are going to try a couple of changes to the way you can book on events and activities.
1. On flyers for all events, activities and trips, taking place from 1st  January 2025, there will be a ‘bookings open from’ date, as well as a ‘closing date’. It is hoped this change will give everyone a fair chance of reserving a place on their chosen event. Details of the first event this will apply to are on page 2.
2. A confirmation letter will be sent out to everyone who books a place on an event, activity or trip. This letter will be sent once payment, and all other information requested, has been received.
Our Federation Secretary’s limited hours are often wasted when she has to chase late payments, menu choices, pick-up points, etc. All information must be submitted at the time of booking.
We are already well on with planning the 2025 programme, so look out for information coming out in the near future.
Thank you everyone
Jean Burgess, Chairman of EAT
