Chairman’s Column

Hello everyone
What a busy month it has been. I have had a great time visiting a number of WIs, both with my WI Adviser hat on and as Federation Chairman. It never ceases to amaze me how
different each WI is, but one thing remains the same – a place where women can come
together and enjoy friendship in a safe environment.
Of course, the WI is based on learning and that learning comes in many forms. At Binbrook & District WI hey have linked the traditional with new, more modern crafting skills to create a banner to use both at meetings and when out and about at community events to help showcase the WI.
Its creation was led by talented member Linda Kiddell, who has been sharing her multi-media crafting skills with members and non-members through a series of workshops.
Linda has kindly said if there are any other WIs who are interested in making a banner and who need some assistance, she would be pleased to give them a bit of guidance.
By the time you read this, we will have had our Federation Annual meeting at Skegness, and I want to say how privileged I feel to have my fellow trustees put their faith in me once again to serve another year as chairman.
However, it really is a team effort; while each trustee takes on a specific role, it is only by
working together we can look at moving the federation forward.
There is a great programme of events planned by EAT for the next 12 months, including the amazing Red Dress project next March – a real coup to be able to bring this to Horncastle.
We will again be at Carrington, the Lincolnshire Show and Spilsby Show, an opportunity to
volunteer time at events or baking in advance.
We will also be continuing with our occasional coffee mornings at WI house too – an opportunity to come together in a social gathering.
We will be running a number of raffles and tombolas through the year and any donations will be gratefully received at WI House – thank you in advance.
Take care as always
Dianne
