Chairman’s chat

Hello everyone
As you will see from the front page of this month’s newsletter, we are changing things up for the Federation meeting in 2025. We will have sole use on the day of the Robert Hardy Building at Bishop Grosseteste University, which means we will have room to spread out. So, as well as our usual format, we will have room for a number of stalls, selling a range of items to offer a bit of retail therapy on the day.
There is plenty of free parking on site and there will be the option to prebook a sandwich lunch – or, of course, you could take your own along.
This will be different to previous years and we need to see how it all works; we will, as always, welcome feedback after the event.
I am sure you will have seen some information about the new national WI Lottery. There is information on MYWI and it also featured in the September edition of WI Life (page 35).
The Federation has signed up for a lottery ‘page’, so if you would like to show your support visit: www.thewilottery.co.uk/support/lincolnshire-north-federation-of-wi
Of course, each WI can sign up for their own lottery and then sell tickets to their members, family, friends and their whole community, with 40p from each £1 lottery ticket coming back to your WI.
Please note: you cannot buy tickets in the name of the WI nor use WI money to purchase tickets.
Don’t worry, there is no extra work for the WI secretary or treasurer, as it is all done centrally. You just need to let people know about the lottery – once accepted, you will receive a direct link to pass on to people to save them having to search for your WI through www.thewilottery.co.uk/
Prizes will range from £25 to £25,000 and the first draw will be taking place on September 28, and every Saturday from then on.
While we can’t offer the same high-value prizes, the Federation 50/50 draw will continue. The new year for this will be starting in November and the form to take part can be found on page 5 of this newsletter. The draw is open to members and non-members.
Thank you for your continued support of your federation.
Take care as always
Dianne
